How do I use a Kettle Barbie Smoker?

Hi!

This is a new area to me, so I hope the post is in the right place.

I have looked at all the pages here and did not find (although may have missed) anything relevant.

I have bought a really basic kettle Barbie from Lidl. I would like to know how to use it as a smoker. I want to cook/smoke poussin, quails, lamb and pork from cold.

Does anyone know how to use such a basic device for this purpose?

Or can you recommend a tutorial on the net to help?

And hello to all my old friends ;)

When folks as me that question here's a site that has some good info on different equipment setups with pics, perhaps this will help.

Thanks, very useful. I had found something else very like it, same info so must be quite good.

Aloso, my barbie looks like a clone of a small Weber kettle. So I guess apart from construction quality, most of the Weber recomendations would apply.

Just wondering what would be a good low cholesterol tryout, using a small amount of meat?

Chicken, leave the skin on and if you really want low cholesterol, take it off before serving.

I bought this one last July at one of Lidls chuck out sales for 7.

They have had some BBQ stuff last couple of weeks, but I do not remember seeing this one there.

Lidl are keeping most of their goods in store during the recession rather than shipping the unsold back each week, so go have a look at your local one.

Dave

Its a Landmann Black Pearl. Construction quality seems good. It has a central vent in the firebowl and two charcoal separators for the grate.

View here:

Product Code : 0423

You can get one from Argos for 30, but 20 in May day sale:

But Tesco direct has up to 30% off barbies at present too.
