I have congenital high BP and am on a raft of medication to keep that, my cholesterol and my type 2 diabetes in check.

Doesn't stop me making stuff, Jen, It's just a case of "In moderation we trust"

if Hubby is now being monitored by the medics, I think you can consider him refurbished :)

Do some research on fructose
It can be found to be the cause of high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol and cancers.
We have concentrated on low fat, low cholesterol diets since the 80s and nothing has changed the real focus should be on high fructose.
yet to take the plunge still researching

At the bottom of this thread is a low fat, low salt chicken sausage recipe with basil and sun-dried tomato.

(The one at the top of the thread has more salt.)

It's my wife's favourite.

Good luck! :D

That's a great 'bad news' story.

Best wishes for a full recovery and many more years of adventures.

Just reading through some of the forums and trying to catch up with a couple of years of posts, and I came across your bad news, Jenny! :( how is the situation now? Is DH fully recovered? Has life settled down for you both now?

Hi all, Two time Infarction sufferer and triple bypass owner here. I love sausages. I decided to make my own to control the sodium levels more than anything, (too little fat makes for dry sausages) and the statins are keeping my chol. levels well under control (too low, in fact) - and owning quails, I eat more than my fair share of eggs too. :)

Hmmm Sausage & Quail Eggs... OMG, Mini Scotch Eggs, anyone?

Cheers,
Rob.

Well, the news here is all good. We are back in our house in France for the first time since his heart attack in October, and it's lovely to be here again. At the moment he is putting together a butchers block for me which we bought in Ikea in Tours today. He has made a remarkable recovery and is back to as he was before. I'm making sausages as I always have, curing bacon etc. I place my faith in statins, but I have maintained a meat day, fish day, veggie day in our diet. It's kept the weight down for him. He'll always have cardio vascular disease, but he seemes to do more with it than most of us do without it.
