This weekend my local grocery store had chicken leg quarters on sale for 37 cents per pound. I bought 6 for about three dollars (2.1 British pounds) about 7.5 pounds of meat (3.4 Kg). I took the meat and fat from the thighs and made 2.5 pounds of chicken sausage. The drumsticks, backs, skin and bones from the thighs gave me two quarts of homemade stock. The cooked meat from the stock making was given to a friend with five dogs to feed. A pleasant Sunday afternoon for three dollars.
Fashionably late will be stylishly hungry.
