How do you enter/input formulas on this site ???

Postby Parson Snows » Mon Nov 15, 2004 7:46 pm

I was wondering as to how you can input formulas on this site I have tried text boxes and they don't work. I have also tried tabbing them on the original only to find that the formatting isn't carried over. Any advice would be appreciated.
It's just that one of my postings really needs several formulas with it

Not sure have you tried the code tag. [code} insert fomula here[/code}

use ] instead of }

Code: Select all
a = b/c

Lining up Formulas

Postby Parson Snows » Mon Nov 15, 2004 9:23 pm

Yes I have, thanks. They line up perfectly "'numerator /denominator" however, they don't line up across the page ie tabbed horizontally. So quite often they have nothing beneath them.

Any Advice? The text also say's that help will be available on the posting screen. If it is I've missed it. Mind you it's 4:30 am here now.

Kinds regards

The only way I can think of doing it is to make a html document of it and as html is allowed perhaps that will keep the format. I believe word can do a simple wysiwyg html document. although have not tried it myself.

Nope that don't work!

Line up formulas

Postby Parson Snows » Mon Nov 15, 2004 10:26 pm

Thanks I'll give it a try.

FYI As to Salt Beef/Corned Beef recipes I've put a poll out there and whichever one comes up trumps will be dealt with first (this is what I need the calculations for (brines etc. meeting stds.)) If it's the FB tinned style first then I'll deal with your queries later. It may be later but I will deal with them. I actually have a salt beef/corned beef recipe to die for, as Dave Barry would say "Trust me I'm not making this up"

Kind regards

You could try capturing a picture of the formula and posting it as an image.

Entering Formulas on this site

Postby Parson Snows » Tue Nov 16, 2004 10:19 am

Thanks, I considered that also, but didn't want to go that way due to the resulting increased file size. I have a neat little utility called "5Clicks" just for that purpose, it is simplicity itself to use. If anyone wants to check it out it can be found at
