Best used by date - Ham

Postby spudie » Fri Dec 27, 2019 2:32 am

Seasons Greeting to all.
Have been given a huge shop bought ham, still in vac packed bag.
Best used by date is 19th Jan 2020.

We have our own ham which will be timed to be fully used by 13th Jan when we depart for trip.
Will be away for 6 weeks so really dont want to waste the 19th Jan ham and we haven't capacity to eat in time.
Have looked at below for forum history
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5613&p=47833&hilit=freezing+ham#p47833

Seems that to freeze the gifted ham as is would be ok.

Appreciate any updated comments, tips, thoughts.
I dont have capacity to vac again in present size but could if cut in have, comments here as well please.

Thanks in advance
