& I've bougt some fairly narrow broad beans: maybe there should be a standard. Lets appeal for a quango!
Vegetarian food: fine as a side.
Vegetarians: not bad, but they don't crisp up very well.
Vegans: should go back to Vega.

What about Jacob's Cattle (a variety of bean)? Should we ban them too? Maybe ban the bureaucrats and semanticists first.

I made one of those a few weeks back, or a variant of it called 'drowned baby'... Apparently so called because it was Admiral Nelson's favourite pudding, and was cooked the old fashioned way in a cloth bound each end, which looked not unlike a burial at sea... Whether this is true doesn't matter, cos the addition of rum and cinnamon really did make it rather nice.. I must however, own up to covering it with custard from a... carton :roll:

Paul, although I do make flash custard occasionally. I've got to admit I absolutely love custard made with the powder. especially on things like spotted dick and treacle pudding.

To be honest, when I asked the wife to bring back some custard I was unsure what she would buy. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the carton of pre-made.. I also like the one in the can. It's not very often I have custard so this was quite convenient.

That reminds me of a sunday lunch I had with my uncle years back as a kid. When the waitress came over and told him the deserts of which spotted dick and custard was one, he replied in a deeep greek accent, by asking her "how do you spot your dicks?" he meant raisins or sultanas of course!!!!
