Prky Pa's smoker review

To Batman's query on how long the batteries last, mine lasted about 8 hours.
After that I found an old step down transformer in my junk box and have hooked that up in place of the batteries.

Hi Folks,

New to the forum and have rec'd my porky pa from the states.

Have attached to a metal dustbin and had a go at smoking. The eggs and cheese turned out very tasty but they did sweat !!

What kind of ventilation shopuld I be using? So far I have just propped open the lid a little to provide some. Any ideas? Pics?

Next question, has anyone found a reasonable source for the smoking pellets? Has anyone used chippings? Am nearly out of the ones supplied and really want to get some more smoking done.

If you live near to Kettering have a word with:

Ashwood Smoking Chips Ltd 01536 523220 (Telford Way Industrial Estate, Kettering).

I believe they do various sizes of chips.
I was amazed - 15kg of Beech or Oak chips for �6.80.
You would need to be near enough to collect them though as the postage is a killer!

I don't think they have one - it's best to ring.
They were very helpful when I called.
Check opening times - I don't think they trade on Saturdays.

They close at 1:00pm on Friday and are closed on Saturdays, I have called them before when I was going over to Cambridge. They used to have their catalogue as a pdf on a website but maybe they have dropped their web presence.

Hi Group
I�m back on ebay I have made a small change to the air output. I think it gives you better control of the air flow and will protect the pump from back pressure. Not that I was having trouble with the old way. I had a conversation with someone that knows about this type of small pump and suggested I try it this way for better results and to protect the pump. I tried it and I agree. If anyone has one it is an easy add on. Just email me and I will explain. Either way I�m very happy with the response I have been getting on the Smoke Daddy and plan on continuing to make them.

Good news Porky Pa. I like the addition of a handle on the top lid, if I remember correctly the original design didn't have one.
