From Yahoo Answers:

Very very little. 1 teaspoon will "substitute for a 1/2 to 1 cup chopped onion.

1 small onion equals 1 tablespoon instant minced onion or 1-1/2 teaspoons onion powder.

Hope this helps

Hi LD

Yep, I had to make (quickly unfortunatly) 200 beef burgers, 200 lamb burgers and 200 game burgers along with 1200 8" sausages for a fair that took place this Saturday and Sunday. I just didnt have the time to chop a ton of onions so just used OP as a short cut.

In the sausages I used GOS, Sage, OP, Thyme, Ginger and seasoning, and even though I say so myself they tased quite good. Anyway skewered the lot onto 12" bamboo sticks to make them easier to cook (they stay straight on the grill and bbq so you get more on) serve and handle (try cooking and loading 1200 sausages into rolls with tongs!) and thankfully we sold out 1 hour before the close of the show.

cheers WW
