Anyone tried mango chutney in pork bangers?

Postby Sojourn » Mon Dec 08, 2008 5:43 pm

I love Mango Chutney - i'm tempted to mix some in to a batch of sausages, has anyone experimented with this before?

I've seen WelshWizards post using tinned mangos, but am interested in mango chutney...

Yes, I have. I ended up with a somewhat mushy end result. However, the taste was not what I expected. Mango Chutney to me is supposed to be sweet sour. There was neither present. A few chunks of fruit and some spices could be identified. They were not bad, actually they were very nice, just not what I expected. I could have given them to someone unaware of having mange chutney in them and they would not have noticed.

I am going to try to use some Dorset Ale Chutney. I usually have it on cheese, but it is time to give the sausages a go :D

Soujourn, I would say it is definitely worth giving it a go.
Let us know the outcome

Best wishes and good luck

Hi Griselda,

Thanks for replying, I will give it a go tomorrow. You mentioned using a dorset ale chutney in the mix, my dad had a glut of apples and pears this year and I made off like a bandit with bags full, I made about 20 pints of dark sweet chutney - it's nearly ready to eat, I may try some of that too!

Cheers,
