I did some of wheels soft rolls the other day using the recipe he posted on page 2 of this thread - I have now had to make a second lot :D

They have got to be the best rolls I have done to date - brilliant, very soft and as my other half said "They look like real ones", which I took in the spirit it was intended as she meant that they looked like one you could buy in the shops as opposed to the bricks I sometime turn out :shock:


Just having some for breakfast with pork & herb sausage and the last of my home made butter :lol: :lol:

I am not sure whether this post is allowed, if it isn't please delete it - In case anyone is interested i have some straps of 3 bread tins, they are proffesional ex-bakery tins, well seasoned and in good conditioned. I would say these are 3lb bread tins. You can easily seperate the straps into single tins with an angle grinder.

if anyone is interested, PM me as i cannot give a price on the forum because they are currently listed on ebay.

Anyone use fresh yeast successfully in a bread maker?


Despite advising against this I did it successfully this weekend.
I get my yeast free from Tesco, and this weekend the bakery guy gave me a huge bag of yeast, more than I would normally use. I decided to try it in the machine and reversed the order of ingredients in the Panasonic, using half an ounce of yeast mixed into 340ml warm water, 14 ounces of flour, tsp salt, tblsp bread improver, I put the machine onto a rapid bake programme and the result was a fantastic loaf.
Many years ago when I tried this I put the machine on to a normal bake programme. The resulting rise played havoc with the machine. Using bread improver and the rapid bake it works.

For those of you who use Emma's Home Baking Supplies for your bread improvers, she has some good reductions on some of her packs at the moment. I've just got 10% off a kilo.
