What pipe for cold smoker

What pipe for cold smoker

Postby unclejoes96 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 3:28 pm

I have a cold smoker unit based on Porky Pa's version. I need a pipe to connect to my smoker cupboard, a plastic pipe would be more convenient because of the flexibility, but would the plastic taint the taste of the smoke ?

Any views appreciated

I wouldn't recommend it... The acids in the tar might leach all sorts of nasties out of it. What sort of bore of pipe are you wanting?

I am thinking of small bore probally 15 or 22mm. The home made smoker unit with adjustable air pump generates enough smoke through a small bore.

Perhaps ordinary copper pipe would be ok, unless that would leach nasties, also do you think the small bore would block up with the tarry deposits etc ?

I use 15mm copper, have you seen the photos of my set up? If not I'll find a link for you.
