DIY Chimenea

I'm making my own chimenea at the moment, I'll put in a few pics when it's done.

Any ideas where I could find a metal stand for it?

How about going to an ironmonger/blacksmith and getting one custom made to suit?

Also, i wonder how you're making it? what's it made from etc?

maket it out of spruce 2x4's. LOL

I'm making it out of a heavy duty clay which will stand the heat and the cold if left out in the winter. BTW I teach pottery so I have all the gear for firing etc. I'm thinking I may have to visit the local blacksmith for the job, unless I can find someone with a broken chimenea and a stand going spare.

A number of garden centres and DIY stores (B&Q springs to mind) sell them as extras. Or there is this : http://superchims.com/accessories.html (bottom item). Failing that I have purchased a wrought iron camp fire tripod from a smith in Norfolk at a very reasonable price that I could ask if he would do a chimenea stand, or put you in touch with...

I met him on the interweb. On a bushcrafting, knifemaking forum. He charged me �30 delivered for an artisan product I probably couldn't even have bought reinforcing rod for from my builders merchant at that price.

Anyway, I'll make a discreet enquiry.

Thanks Dave, much appreciated. The chimenea is still in progress so sizing up the stand will have to wait until after the firing. I'm happy to make direct contact if he is, and as he is in Norfolk he wont be too far away should he need to see the finished article.

Well here it is.... the chimney is a bit rough, but I was being chivvied to finish it before the family barbecue last weekend. The OH happened to have some welding gear and made the stand, but thanks Dave for the link to the blacksmith should I have needed one.

We fired it up and it went a treat. Kept us up until well after midnight.
