The dust wouldn't catch at all, so I dried it in the oven at 220 deg C for any hour and it burnt perfectly, a bit faster than the supplied dust I estimate it burnt for about 8 hrs. Drying the "as is" chippings didn't work, it would flash burn across the surface but not deep smoulder. So your chippings work Rich if you grind them down to a third of the original volume and oven dry them thoroughly.
I'll post some pics of the dust and my kippers later...
