Thanks Ian, that will be interesting,
if your informant(s) know anything about Turkey Oak, Quercus cerris, as well that would be brill ! :)

A little ditty :-

>my head also hurts.
beams over a dash of whisky and adds a glass of green ginger wine, that should help, well I find it does :)

>wait until Monday

dont bust a gut on my account :) I am just playing with the idea, plenty of time yet till xmas or the new year to buy my chum* a real proper professional job ;)

While we wait in great anticipation for the start of the new week ( what, Ian, you dont slave all weekend as well? Tut, LOL) let me tell a little story, it is on smoked things but not meat, is that ok for this forum ?? Are we sitting comfortably ,,,

Some years ago I brewed some beer with smoked malt, it was a Baverian** malt, it produced an evil brew, I dont mean that in a macho sense,, most of it went down the drain :-!( I have never drunk neat liquid smoke but I imagine it might be similar ! it was harsh bitter agressive and persistant. It was the only smoked malt available at the time. A while later my supplier was able to obtain some peat smoked malt ( I think it came from the same supplies as those used by Ard Beg or Laphroaig, time confuses my memory, or praps it is the whisky !) That was superb, a gentle sweet aroma. It did not last long, the supply dried up :-(

The moral of the tale - must remember to ask my scots mates to bring some peat with them next time they visit ;)

* he who introduced me to bacon cures and this forum
** not far from Germany, lol.

It is possible purchase a rotary Microplane, of a size that could be used in an electric drill. Try Axminster or Tilgear, (UK on-line tool merchants.)
GOS, yeah!!!

Oh, now life's not worth living. The thought that I may have made someone spill their beer. I don't know how I'll cope?

I may be gone some time...

Well we have again been, or are about to be !, crossed in the post, so I am in two minds about posting this, cos I may be gone some time as well, else we may kiss and cuddle up , I dunno, but this is what I was doing in notepad whilst you were typing the above :

Phil, why do you keep doing this, taking a propriatorial interest in a particular product even to the level of requiring me to be appreciative, Ian is quite capable of joining in and, if he wishes, of promoting his product.
For example(s)
my initial enquiry of smoldering agents (and I made no implication or differentiation between legal and others, p.nitrate is approved as a food ingredient) was promptly and sufficiently answered by Ian in the second post in the thread, end of ,,,

the rest is just paddling in the pool.

Later in the thread you took it upon yourself to notify Ian (Mac) of the thread for his attention, but if you had been attentive you would have noted that Ian was already paying attention!

Further convolutions by you implying that I am critisizing ProQ and their products. I did not, I commented (critisized if you like ) their lack of clarity and organisation in their websites and pricing structure.
Your implication was that I was feeling _ripped off_, your words in my mouth and too strong by half, too strong for moderation. I should have addressed that more agressivly at the time.

I have written plenty, too much probably, of various things that could have been commented upon by anyone who was bored and wanting conversation, but you have frequently chosen those matters of particular concern to ProQ, why is that ? not simply because it keeps you out of the rain? And if it does why does that make me eternally grateful, not ever having used a Bradley ! :)

Arthur.

I might not have posted this, except that Phil has got me in a 'mood' !:) :-

That is interesting to know, so there isnt a plantation of the Red (N.American) Oak lurking in the German forests ! ,,,,,
However, just by way of conversation, not to be particular about the pendunculate, when taxanomically describing things, a la Linaeus, it is practice to capitalise the initial of the genus but to use lower case for the species ie Quercus robur. Well, you can tell that I have nowt better to do this evening LOL hehee, thanks for the info and good night :)

Wow Arthur!
Obviously. the "dash of whisky and a glass of green ginger wine" is not working too well for you.
I visit this forum and many others to get honest (good and bad) feedback on the products I design and produce, so I can rectify any problems that may arise. I'm totally committed to supplying good quality products that work.

I'm truly thankful for Phil's input and notification, as I'm sure I miss many such posts (I am after all trying to run a business and even though I do slave away on most weekends, so I don't get much time to spend searching the forums).
I must point out (as I feel you are alluding to the fact) that Phil is in no way connected with Mac's BBQ Ltd and freely gives of his time and wealth of experience to the many people on this forum.

Thank you for the lesson in English "when taxanomically describing things, a la Linaeus, it is practice to capitalise the initial of the genus but to use lower case for the species ie Quercus robur". (No doubt there are plenty of errors in this post, this I attribute to being more interested in the sports, rather than the academic side of my short school life).

Best regards

Ian

Arthur

I really can't be bothered with your snipe, nor the one on the Over the Gate forum.

I was going to take my Mod hat off and let rip, but what's the point. You just can't help some people.

If your questions were directed solely to Ian, rather than the whole forum, perhaps in future you would email him or even PM him from here - that's what that facility is for.
