If you need any practice, you're welcome to do a trail run at my house: don't they just look fantastic.

I believe it's a 42" internal diameter oven. I've just been looking back over "Charliefarley's" thread from when he first joined and said... "I want one!" so I have made a start with preparing the foundations. Guess I'll just learn along the way. ...He inspired us all with his build and many other people built their own after following the detailed stages of his build......

p.s.....Big, big thanks to Saucisson who was the inspiration behind my help site and was one of our first members.....and all the help received on sausagemaking.org in making my PDT, sausage, bacon etc.

I don't actually have the room myself, so I am planning to build one at my Brother-in-laws.

Why, what's wrong with my house?

Seriously though, this is on my list of wants, whether I'll ever get around to persuading one of my more fit friends/relatives to build it for me is another matter though.

Thought I would practice on my b-i-l's, just don't hold your breath for me to turn up one day unannounced at Wheels' Towers with a trailer full of refractory bricks!

Phil

There are usually kit form or "Modular" ovens over on e-bay at reasonable prices but be warned......we have heard of some horror stories from some of our members who have bought from there. They are not all bad but a bit of research into the seller is recommended.

There are also bonafide companies which sell the kit form ovens......
such as......

http://www.wood-firedoven.co.uk/
http://www.fornobravo.co.uk/ordering/index.html

http://www.gardengiftshop.co.uk/catalog ... ?cid=10969
http://www.jamieoliverovens.com/

Their prices vary greatly. There is only one (bonafide) supplier I know of who manufactures his own (i.e not imported) and that is Jay Emery of

..... http://www.dingley-dell.com/....he is also not so cheap but perhaps the best value for your hard earned £'s..(I'm not on commission)

You can always build one yourself from re-claimed red clay brick at a fraction of the cost......and there is always free advice at hand in helping with every stage of an oven build.

Hope that is of some help

Terry

Many thanks. It looks like the self-build way will be the only option at present.

Phil,

The Forno Bravo ovens are definitely the real deal.
The kits are expensive, but they are of very high quality and a good design.

just my 2 cents... (I don't actually have one)

but I did a bit of research a while ago as I was going to build a mobile oven on a trailer to rent out for parties & take to farmers markets etc...

cheers,
Mitch.

Or barter one for some small goods :)

my brother in law is currently 'scrounging' for material for his.

(I think in the UK it's called 'Blagging')

Got to jump in 'proper', somewhere, and it may as well be here. I've done my intro, so I won't have to say anything else about my sig...

Anyway, I built this monster a couple of years ago. Can't say it's been over-used, but when it is fired up, it can easily serve 30-60 people with pizza!

I have done lamb in it, but it's terribly easy to over-cook meats. I'd like to do a piglet or something of that type this year, if possible.

Sorry I don't have (to hand), any of the build photos -lost in a moment of clicking madness!
