Has anyone here hired a hog roast for an event before? How much did it cost for hog roast hire and how many did it feed?

It may help if you could say where you are located, Country County etc.

Cheers

Better bet is contact a local meat shop and see what they charge if you buy a luau pig and cook it for you, then just pick it up in a big cooler and serve yourselves. If you're doing a casual gig with friends and family, rolling in with a whole-carcass pig smoked and cooked makes quite the impression. I'm just outside Portland OR, so for a 61-100 carcass luau hog it's $2.90/lb for the body then $50 for the smoking.

Granted, if you want a company to smoke, bring it and serve you, you can probably double that price pretty easily.

Another option, if on a budget, is hiring a shop to smoke boneless shoulder butts. The meat will be considerably cheaper and if they're competent they can do pulled pork in a commercial smokehouse very easily.
