can apparently be located imbedded in the sides of the fridge as me and my hole saw learned this weekend...

It cant be good when your fridge starts hissing at you.

No Xray vision?

One of the basic laws of science is that hidden critical parts, wires, and pipes must be located directly in line of any holes being drilled. Some sort of reverse lottery rule that pays out way more often than it should.

Could one respectfully suggest that use of one of those cheap devices sold at DIY sheds for locating pipes, studs and wires might be of help? 8)

Would it work through the metal casing?

I'm reminded of the time I re-routed some central heating pipes and had to box them in with plasterboard and managed to screw a plasterboard screw into one of the pipes...

I was thinking of using it from the inside which is usually plastic, and the evaporator coils should be near the surface. Just tried it with two detectors, the low-tech one was unconvincing and the hi-tech one didn't want to play.

Doh!
