Black Pepper

Postby Mohalk » Mon Jul 08, 2013 1:32 pm

A while back I was looking through the web and I found a site offering odd (for around here) plants and a couple caught my eye, a Black Pepper plant. Well being just before Saint Patrick's Day I ordered it and told my wife it was a gift for Saint Patrick's Day because it was green.

The plant arrived on time 2 days or so before Saint Patrick's Day. It only had 3 leafs and seemed to be in sad shape. I went ahead and set it in a 2.5 gal pot and waited. After a month it started to show some signs of growth. This plant is not supposed to produce for 2 to 3 years and grow to ~15 ft. or so. At this time it is barely a foot and a half tall and is budding! Also runners are shooting out everywhere. Wife and I both are very pleased and can't wait for a taste of real "fresh" Black Pepper.

I'll post a few photos if any would like a look see.
